Last reviewed: August 2026. Prices are typical UK market ranges, not quotes. Veneers permanently alter your teeth — the section on tooth preparation below matters more than the price.
Veneers in the UK cost £500 to £1,200 per tooth for porcelain and £150 to £400 per tooth for composite. Most reputable private clinics quote £800–£1,200 for porcelain.
Because veneers are almost never done singly, the number that matters is the set:
What a full set of veneers costs in the UK
| Scope | Composite | Porcelain / E-max |
|---|---|---|
| Per tooth | £150 – £400 | £500 – £1,200 |
| Social six (6 upper front teeth) | £900 – £2,400 | £3,000 – £7,200 |
| Upper arch (8–10 teeth) | £1,200 – £4,000 | £4,000 – £12,000 |
| Full smile (20 teeth, both arches) | £3,000 – £8,000 | £10,000 – £24,000 |
Most people who ask about a “full set” want the upper arch, not twenty teeth. Clarify this before comparing quotes — a clinic quoting for 20 and one quoting for 8 will look very different for no clinical reason.
Composite or porcelain?
| Composite | Porcelain / E-max | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per tooth | £150 – £400 | £500 – £1,200 |
| Lifespan | 5 – 8 years | 10 – 15 years (E-max 15–20) |
| Tooth removal | Minimal, sometimes none | Enamel reduction required |
| Staining | Yes — resin discolours | No |
| Reversible? | Often yes | No |
| Repairable | Yes, chairside | Usually replaced, not repaired |
Composite costs less per tooth but is replaced two to three times as often. Over fifteen years the cost gap narrows considerably. The real difference is reversibility: composite can often be removed and the tooth left intact. Porcelain cannot, because the enamel taken to make room for it does not grow back.
The question that matters more than price: how much tooth is removed?
This is the part of veneer treatment that UK patients most often discover too late, and it is worth more of your attention than any price comparison on this page.
A genuine veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front of the tooth, requiring around 0.5 mm of enamel reduction. A crown covers the whole tooth and requires far more — often 60–70% of the tooth structure.
A significant amount of treatment sold as “veneers” is actually crowns. Crowns are quicker, more forgiving of alignment problems, and produce dramatic results in one week rather than several visits. They also permanently reduce healthy teeth to pegs, and a proportion of those teeth later need root canal treatment because the nerve does not survive the preparation.
This is the substance behind the “Turkey teeth” coverage in the British press, and it is worth being precise about it: the issue is not the country. It is that fast, dramatic smile transformations are usually crowns, and patients are frequently not told that the alternative was less destructive. The same treatment is sold the same way in London.
Ask any clinic, at home or abroad, three questions in writing:
- Are these veneers or crowns? If crowns, why is a veneer not suitable in my case?
- How much enamel will be removed? A number, in millimetres, not “minimal”.
- Will you show me the prepared teeth before the permanent restorations go on?
A clinic that answers these plainly is one you can trust with an irreversible procedure. Evasion at question one is your answer.
Are veneers available on the NHS?
Almost never for appearance. NHS dentistry funds veneers only where there is a clinical need — for example severe discolouration following trauma, or damaged front teeth. Cosmetic smile improvement is Band 3 private treatment.
Veneers abroad: what the saving is and what it costs you
E-max veneers cost £250–£350 per tooth in Türkiye against £700–£1,200 in the UK — a saving of 65–75%. On an upper arch of 8 teeth that is roughly £2,500 versus £8,000.
The saving is real. Three things determine whether it is a good decision:
- Veneers or crowns, again. The price gap is largest on packages that are quietly crown packages. Compare like with like or you are comparing two different operations.
- Time. Proper veneer work involves preparation, a temporary phase, a try-in and fitting. A schedule that compresses everything into three days is achieving that speed somehow — usually by crowning.
- Who fixes a problem in year three? A debonded veneer or a failing margin needs a dentist. Ask whether your UK dentist will maintain work they did not place; many will, some will not, and it is better to know first.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a full set of veneers cost in the UK?
£4,000–£12,000 for an upper arch in porcelain, or £10,000–£24,000 for a full 20-tooth smile. Composite is roughly a third of that.
How much do veneers cost per tooth?
£500–£1,200 for porcelain, £150–£400 for composite. Most UK clinics sit at £800–£1,200 for porcelain.
How long do veneers last?
Porcelain 10–15 years, E-max 15–20 with good care, composite 5–8 before staining or chipping becomes noticeable.
Are veneers permanent?
Porcelain veneers are irreversible — enamel is removed to fit them, and the tooth will always need a restoration afterwards. Composite is often reversible.
Why are veneers so much cheaper in Turkey?
Lower operating costs, and in some cases because the treatment being quoted is crowns rather than veneers. Confirm which one you are being offered.
